Climate and Environmental
The Ghana Red Cross Society (GRCS) is committed to protecting lives and the environment. Our climate work focuses on nature-based solutions, community engagement, and national policy alignment to help people adapt to and reduce the impacts of climate change.
Working with the IFRC, the ICRC, and other partners, GRCS leads community-driven tree planting and ecosystem restoration projects under the Pan-African Tree Planting and Care Initiative. These efforts help restore forests, capture carbon, and support sustainable livelihoods.
Through our Locally Led Adaptation (LLA) approach, we collaborate with communities, government agencies, and experts to design practical, long-term climate solutions. Our Technical Working Group on Climate Change ensures that all activities align with national climate strategies and global goals.
GRCS also partners with institutions such as the Ministry of Environment, the Forestry Commission, and Green People NGO to strengthen climate policy engagement and access funding for climate-smart projects.
Together with our partners, we are building a greener, safer, and more resilient Ghana, one community and one tree at a time.
